The President's Perspective -- February 2016

We have had a wonderful February at UUFG. [Click "Read More" to continue.]

Gene Mills and the Social Justice Council put together two wonderful programs for Black History Month. The music was exceptional, and the speakers were too. Thank you, Gene, for your hard work.

Many thanks also to Ginny Bird, Judith Kendall and Pete Runyan for their hard work in making our Gather to Celebrate Sunday such a success. And more thanks to everyone in the congregation who participated in any way: bringing food for the potluck, turning in your pledge card, increasing your pledge, and coming to the service and the potluck to share the joy of community. Our pledge drive is off to a great start.

We finish off the month with today's UU Florida Choral Festival. Thanks are due to Tony Canty and Amanda Harding for their hard work to make this a successful program.

As we continue to work on our year one developmental ministry goal, the Board, Program Council and Leadership Development Committee will take a look at our governance structure and see whether it is serving the needs of our congregation. We do not envision immediate changes. This review will take some time, and everyone will have an opportunity to voice their opinion at some point in the process. Stay tuned for more information.

In fellowship,
Lynne Capehart
