The President's Perspective -- April 2016

Things are really moving forward at UUFG. First, I want to urge you to mark your calendars for the Annual Congregational Meeting, May 22, immediately following the Sunday service. Decisions will be made that affect the entire congregation, and we want to have your voice heard. [Click "Read more..." to continue.]

We have two major accomplishments to brag about this month.

  1. The roof: The week of May 9th (weather permitting) our roof replacement will start. How wonderful that we had enough money in our building reserve fund to cover the cost and we don’t need to get a loan to complete the job.
  2. The pledge drive: Our pledge drive has been successfully completed with pledges of about $230,000. Many thanks to our members and friends for their financial support of UUFG.

We also have some upcoming events you might be interested in attending.

  1. A leadership retreat is scheduled for June 18 with both incoming and outgoing leaders, as well as any other members of the congregation who want to come. We will be discussing the calendar for next year. We will also be looking at our developmental goals to see what we want to work on for 2016-17.
  2. There will be a workshop on conflict styles on Saturday, October 1. The workshop will be led by Rev. Maureen Killoran and will run from 9:30-2:00 with lunch provided.

Finally, I want to let you know that Kristin Stevens has resigned as Program Council chair. The Program Council members will function without a replacement for the two months that remain of Kristin’s term. Many, many thanks to Kristin for having taken on this position this year, after serving as Congregation President for two years. I look forward to her involvement with our congregation in some other role in the future.

In fellowship,
Lynne Capehart, Congregation President
