Interweave is a local chapter of Interweave Continental and provides an opportunity for gay men, lesbians, bisexuals, transgender persons and their heterosexual allies to celebrate their differences and similarities, and to strive for the elimination of all oppression by providing spiritual, political, educational and social activities. Everyone is invited to participate in Interweave.
Our UU Fellowship is a Welcoming Congregation that commits to being inclusive and expressive of the concerns of gay, lesbian, and bisexual persons at every level of congregational life — in worship, in programs, and in social occasions — welcoming not only their presence, but also the unique gifts and particularities of their lives as well. The Welcoming Congregation is administered and supported by the Office of Bisexual, Gay, Lesbian and Transgender Concerns, an office of the Unitarian Universalist Association.

Interweave Annual Report 2009-2010 |
|
UUFG has hosted Interweave monthly programs typically located at UUFG including a dinner gathering and community building. This year we also had a very impressive presence at the Pride Celebration downtown Gainesville where UUFG members joined the Gay Pride walk and UUFG/Interweave displayed a tented table. Some of this year’s programs include congregational introduction to the Standing on the Side of Love campaign, transgender panel discussion, member/guest speakers on cultural differences in acceptance, and personal stories. We have also supported community events such as the Holocaust Remembrance Day at the B'nai Israel Jewish Center to honor gay Holocaust victims; and public showings of movies/documentaries focusing on gay/lesbian issues.
